Work in Progress-More Colour is Needed!

Hello,

Here is a look at the work I've been up to lately...

To look back on how these paintings looked before, click here-When I sat with them a bit more, I realised they were all crying out "more colour please". I started out by using Dylusions Ink Sprays, I then cut out and collaged images from colouring books, added colour with acrylic inks and Faber Castell Gel Sticks. I then added some stamps and stencils using acrylic paints. I will let them dry and  then see what else they need.

WIP Wednesday 6

Hello,

Here is an update on last week's pieces.

Here I collaged the butterflies, pressed flower petals and two skeleton leaves.

I added a bit of sepia coloured paint to the model's face and body so that the bare canvas would not stand out as much and it also gives it an antique look.

Here I collaged the butterfly wings and used magazine pages for the floral headdress.

I will wait a bit more and see what else the paintings need.

Materials used- magazine pages, printed paper, acrylic paints, acrylic gel medium on streatched canvas.

Here is one of the mixed media pieces I've been working on lately. It still not finished and I'll have to sit with it a bit to decide what it needs.

These is the piece in its many stages.

Materials used so far- acrylic gel medium, acrylic paints, magazine cutouts and printed paper on stretched canvas. 

Technique used so far- image transfer for the figure, stencilling and stamping in the background.

Hello,

Maze, mixed media painting.

Here is another small painting done on A5 sketch paper. I started by making my lifework with permanent markers. I then used acrylic inks to paint the spirals. I then used a rubber stamp over the painting with black ink.

This was the piece before I added the leaves.
The lines were done using permanent markers
and then painted with acrylic inks.

This is how it looked before I added the stamped pattern over it.
Most of the lines and shapes are done using permanent markers;
the gold section in the middle was painted with acrylic inks.

This is what it looked like before I added the stamped pattern over it.
I used black permanent marker to draw the shapes,
I then painted the shapes with acrylic inks.

 So what do you all think? Do you prefer the before or the after versions?

I think I prefer the before version of Untitled MMC10 and the after version of Untitled MMC9 .

Happy October

Hello,
October is upon us now. This month I decided I would challenge myself to do a piece of artwork each day- for 31 days! Here is a piece I started during the SOS 2012 and managed to finish today. 

 1. October's Girl, gel medium transfer on canvas, acrylic inks and paints, stamping in background, leaf paper punches.

In The Studio...

Hello,

I've taken a break from blogging to enjoy our "Summer Holidays" with my family. We've spent a few days in Manchester, a day in York and experienced Paultons Park for the very first time.  The weather is cheering up lately so its nice to finally have a summer. Here is a mixed media painting I've been working on. I will upload another photo onto the blog once my iPhoto application cooperates.

New Work-update

I've been busy in the studio today working on my coffee stained paintings. They don't have titles yet, I'm still working on that.

Untitled 1- I stencilled a pattern and butterfly stamp with a rust coloured ink.

I also made circles with purple and yellow ink.

 I then added butterfly cut-outs from images I had scanned on my computer and printed on special inkjet paper.

 Untitled 2-Here, I stencilled the pattern in a different direction and also used the butterfly stamp and circles.

 I then also added butterflies to this one as well.

 Untitled 3-  I repeated the pattern again in another direction and also used the butterfly stamp and circles.

I then added an even bigger butterfly as my focal point.

I'm really excited with the way they are developing.
