New Artwork, Work in Progress and Scenes From The Studio...

Here are three new pieces I wanted to share. They were inspired after seeing a video by a wonderful artist Laly Mille .

Here is one of my frequent studio visitors and a bit of the state of my studio at the moment. Half term is here so maybe I will have more time to tidy up and find those scissors I've been looking for:-).

Work In Progress...

Here are some photos of paintings I've been working on lately; they are not finished and need to dry before I work on them further. Here's a look-

Here is a look at the steps 1-6 for this painting, I painted all the portraits with water mixable oil paints. I then used magazines and wrapping paper for everything else. This is the original sketch.

In this one, apart from paints, I used handmade paper, flower petals, magazines, scrapbook paper and skeleton leaves. This is the original sketch.

So far, I have just painted the figures and the backgrounds with water mixable oil paints.

Hello February! and Work In Progress...

Its nice to welcome February, I can't wait for Spring to be here and for some warmer, sunnier weather.

How are your New Years' resolutions working out for you(if you made any that is)?

Here is an update of my work in progress so far...

 I added some pen detail on the leaf crown.

I also added texture to the background by using acrylic paints and stamps.

Happy October

October is upon us now. This month I decided I would challenge myself to do a piece of artwork each day- for 31 days! Here is a piece I started during the SOS 2012 and managed to finish today. 

 1. October's Girl, gel medium transfer on canvas, acrylic inks and paints, stamping in background, leaf paper punches.

Experimenting With Salt

Today I thought I would start working on some pieces using salt to create interesting backgrounds. I did this years ago when I was in school and it was quite effecting, creating like a batik or tie-dye effect.

 The watercolour papers were painted with a mixed of watercolour, acrylics and acrylic inks.

They were then sprinkled with table salt.

Because the sun was out, I decided to let the paintings dry outside on the wash line. Once they are dry, I'll scrap off the salt and see what the effect is.

Paintings I'm Working On...

Hello,

I tend to work on several projects at the same time. It keeps my ideas flowing and it motivates me to other things. But sometimes I need to stop working on a piece and put it aside until I'm inspired to work on it again. Other times, I need to just sit with pieces until they "speak" to me to let me know what I should do next.

This mixed media painting is tacked to my bulletin board in my studio. I've been working on it for a few days now, there's still some work to be done here. But I'm happy with it so far.

These next pieces, I'm calling The Three Sisters. The idea first came to me from a collage I did in my sketchbook. I started working on them almost a year ago! This one was the first I transferred onto a canvas. I used handmade papers and water mixable oil paints.

The second one of the series, and no, it's not upside down. Still a few more things to add.

The third one, I need to work on this more some more.
