WIP Wednesday 6

Hello,

Here is an update on last week's pieces.

Here I collaged the butterflies, pressed flower petals and two skeleton leaves.

I added a bit of sepia coloured paint to the model's face and body so that the bare canvas would not stand out as much and it also gives it an antique look.

Here I collaged the butterfly wings and used magazine pages for the floral headdress.

I will wait a bit more and see what else the paintings need.

WIP Wednesday 1

As I've mentioned before, I usually work on various different projects at the same time. And usually in a series of three or more pieces depending on whether its for a show, a commission or a theme I'm working on in my head. Here are some pieces I thought I would show you today. They are not finished-hence the title of this post-Works In Progress Wednesdays! The column on the left is "stage 1", column on the right is "stage 2" and current stage. I need to sit with these some more to see what else they "need" and will unveil them later. 

They are mixed media-image transfer, collage, acrylic paints on canvas.

Happy 1st April everyone! Spring paid us a nice visit today, bringing us some sun and warmer weather.

Work In Progress...

Hello,

Here are some photos of paintings I've been working on lately; they are not finished and need to dry before I work on them further. Here's a look-

Here is a look at the steps 1-6 for this painting, I painted all the portraits with water mixable oil paints. I then used magazines and wrapping paper for everything else. This is the original sketch.

In this one, apart from paints, I used handmade paper, flower petals, magazines, scrapbook paper and skeleton leaves. This is the original sketch.

So far, I have just painted the figures and the backgrounds with water mixable oil paints.

Works In Progress...

Hello,

I'm still working on these; I added some more feathers, skeleton leaves and magazine cutouts since the last time you saw them. The next step will be to work on the backgrounds- adding clouds, filling in the sky more, etc. It was such a nice day and evening I thought I would photograph the painting outside in our garden. I really like the way they are progressing. What do you think?
