Work in My Sketchbook

Hello,
Here's a collage I did in my sketchbook incorporating images I found very interesting. I also added a bit of drawing with watercolour pencils on the right side of collage.
Bye for now.

Work in My Sketchbook

Hello,
I collect many images. Many from magazines or catalogues; some images because of the colours in them, others because they have interesting patterns. I really like collecting images of foods, maybe its the lighting in the photo, maybe its the composition or the texture of the foods. Or maybe I think "someday I'll make that dish". Anyway, here's a collage I made in my sketchbook using food and nature as the theme. I like to combine torn edges with precise cut shapes like the leaf branches in the collage.
Bye for now.

Beauty Has a Sister

Hello,
Here another sketchbook collage.
These are images taken from fashion magazines; I was inspired by the feathers and fabric on each of the models.
Bye for now.

100th Post!

Hello,
So this is my 100th post, can you believe it? I have enjoyed sharing my artwork with you and talking a bit about the process I go through to make the pieces. Hopefully you have enjoyed visiting my blog and seeing what I'm up to. If you can, can you post me a comment on your favourite blog post(s) so far? I would be very interested.
Here are two pieces I did combining permanent markers with handmade paper for the backgrounds.

Flower Power 5 & 6

Hello,
These are the last three of the Flower Power Series. I really like the addition of the iridescent acrylic inks I used on the outer petals.

Maze

Hello,
Maze, mixed media painting.
Here is another small painting done on A5 sketch paper. I started by making my lifework with permanent markers. I then used acrylic inks to paint the spirals. I then used a rubber stamp over the painting with black ink.
Bye for now.

Inspired By-Sonia Delaunay(Part 2)

Hello,
Remember these-

I thought they all need something extra.
So I choose some rubber stamps I carved and began stamping...

Then I thought... no, they need something else. So I painted the backgrounds with acrylic inks and added more stamping as well to the background.

I'm much more satisfied now.
Bye for now.

Inspired By-Sonia Delaunay

Hello,

"He who knows how to appreciate colour relationships, the influence of one colour on another, their contrasts and dissonances, is promised an infinitely diverse imagery". (Sonia Delaunay)
Scarf Design
Geo
Patchwork
Dots
Voyages Lointains

Here are some drawings I did with permanent marker in my small A5 sketchbook. I did these while either waiting to take a fitness class (because I'm on a fitness kick and am determined to lose weight as well as be healthy) or while waiting for my son's Tae Kwon Do class to begin. They made me think of Sonia Delaunay, an artist who I admire and who has influenced my work.
I think I will take these drawings further, possibly add stamping and/or painting to them. I will post them once they are finished.
Bye for now.

"A line is a dot that went for a walk". (Paul Klee)

Hello,
"A line is a dot that went for a walk". (Paul Klee) One of my favourite artists! Definitely well worth a look at.
Il Giardino del Tempio
Castle and Sun
The End of the Last Act of a Drama
Garden View
In this case I'm using dashes instead of dots with lines.
All three drawing were done on white A5 paper with permanent markers.
Bye for now.

Untitled MMC9, Untitled MMC10, and Untitled MMC11

Hello,
Untitled MMC9, mixed media collage.
This was the piece before I added the leaves.
The lines were done using permanent markers
and then painted with acrylic inks.
Untitled MMC10, mixed media drawing.
This is how it looked before I added the stamped pattern over it.
Most of the lines and shapes are done using permanent markers;
the gold section in the middle was painted with acrylic inks.
Untitled MMC11, mixed media painting.
This is what it looked like before I added the stamped pattern over it.
I used black permanent marker to draw the shapes,
I then painted the shapes with acrylic inks.
So what do you all think? Do you prefer the before or the after versions?
I think I prefer the before version of Untitled MMC10 and the after version of Untitled MMC9 .
 Bye for now.

Catching Up...

Hello,
This weekend was pretty busy for us so I wasn't able to make any blog entries, sorry.
I should be on track now, blog wise. So here are some pieces I've been working and some materials I used.
Golden's Gel Medium, magazine shapes, flat brush
I started out this piece by drawing with permanent markers and then used acrylic inks for the larger areas.
 Untitled MMC6, mixed media collage.
I then thought I wanted to add more interest so I collaged the leaves cut from magazines on top. I like the way the leaves look like they are "flying" or "floating" on the surface.
 Untitled MMC7, mixed media collage.
I did the same for this piece, except I also added a black stamp to create a pattern.
Here I did the lines in markers and filled in the shapes with acrylic inks.
Untitled MMC8, mixed media collage.
I also added the leaves here to follow the "current" of the pattern.
Feel free to leave me a comment and tell me what you think.
Bye for now.
