The Work at the Swindon Central Library is Hung...

Hello,

I was at the Swindon Central Library today hanging my artwork for the Swindon Open Studios. The work is hanging in the Corridor Gallery (the corridor which faces the courtyard) and it will be there till the end of September. I am sharing the wall space with Margaret Sadler and Benoit Philippe.

Swindon Open Studios 2013 (SOS 2013)

I've been busy lately trying to finish some pieces for the Swindon Open Studios- which are coming up very soon. It will take place over two weekend and starts off with a launch party and a group art exhibitition of the SOS participating artists.

The Launch Party

The Open Studios is a chance to meet artists and see them "at work" in their studios. You can ask them questions about their process, what materials they use, where they get their inspiration, etc. Which sometimes leads to a sale of art, a commission or even a new friendship. I meet lots of very interesting people. Because I work out of my garage it not very convenient for me to have my studio open so instead I will be sharing a space with two other artists for this event.

Saturdays, September 7th/14th from 10.00-4.00

Sundays, September 8th/15th from 11.00-3.00

I'm Back...with some Cornwall photos...

Hello,

I'm back to blogging again- it was nice to have some time off and enjoy the summer holiday with my family. Here are some photos of our time in Cornwall.

There's lots of events coming up and I will post them here next time.

Taking a Break

Hello,

Today was my son's last day at school before the summer holidays.  It was bitter sweet- he won't be seeing lots of his friends because most will be away and he'll miss them. I'll also miss my mum friends as well. Also he really liked his teacher and the teaching assistants so next year he'll have a new teacher but may not have the same TAs. Next year will be his last year at his school, then next July he'll move up to a junior school with older kids.

How scary is that?

On the plus side, he and I will have lots of time to play and sleep in. It also means less time in the art studio, so I will have to try and do stuff at night when his dad's home, when he's asleep or when he's at his football course. I decided I would not put any pressure on myself to write any posts and just take a break. I've also been thinking of doing some more sewing projects as well as doing some experimental painting techniques. 

I've done some more work on this painting since my last post, but still need to do more.

I hope you have a great Summer and I'll see you in September.

Still Working on Stuff...

Hi,

Sorry I haven't posted lately...I've been busy with lots of stuff at home and with helping out at my son's school. He has 8 more days of school left. Its been lovely and hot here in Wiltshire. Hopefully we will have a proper summer this year and we can enjoy the time he has off before he goes back to school in September. In the studio-still more projects to finish and resolve.

Not sure where to go from here, but I know they're not finished...

Working on the wing area, will add some pen detail...

Works In Progress...

Hello,

I'm still working on these; I added some more feathers, skeleton leaves and magazine cutouts since the last time you saw them. The next step will be to work on the backgrounds- adding clouds, filling in the sky more, etc. It was such a nice day and evening I thought I would photograph the painting outside in our garden. I really like the way they are progressing. What do you think?
