Happy July!

Hello,
Here are some abstract paintings I did the other day-they are inspired by the colours in a flyer my husband picked up at our local Marks and Spencer store. I didn't get a chance to photograph the actual pages(I wanted to get painting right away), so I'm just showing you the other side of the flyer. I need to go back to the store and pick up another one-so my husband can get started on his Summer Grilling!!! I don't know where I'm taking them exactly, but love the idea of playing with colour and paint!
Bye for now.

Lately...

Hello,
I don't know if its because the weather is getting warmer and it feels more like summer here in the UK-but I've been inspired to do more tactile work. I've been doing these small woven pieces.
Most have been while watching the World Cup football games :-). Go US and England!
Bye for now.

WIP Wednesday 4

Hello,
For this week, I have just focused on the the rusted gate element to this painting. I will leave it (it still needs more work to it) for a bit and keep it hanging on my studio wall. As I work on other projects, I will glance over to it and let the painting tell me what it needs.
Bye for now.

WIP Wednesday 3

Hello,
Here is the painting I've been working on lately, I blogged about it here-
I wanted to explore the idea of sadness and longing for something; I also wanted to include poetry or writing in the piece. Someone had recently posted a quote by Maya Angelou (after her passing) which really made sense and struck a cord with me so I added it to the painting.
"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."
The idea was also to have the women either standing behind a window, maybe stained glass or a type of gate-the window or gate would represent a "barrier" or "hinderance" for these women.
I made some sketches in my journal.

I still wasn't happy- I saw this beautiful photograph of a rusted gate and decided to incorporate it in the painting.
I drew the design in pencil on tracing paper and then transferred it onto the canvas.
Here it is-still lots more to do...
Bye for now.
