Ideas for Art Cards/Book and My Summer Break...

Hello,
Here are some sketches done in my sketchbook using gel pens, acrylic markers and watercolour paints. I thought I would use them for either Art cards or covers on small handmade blank books.
We will be going away to Cornwall again, this time to Newquay. Hopefully the weather there will be as nice as it has been here in Swindon for the past month or so. I will also be taking a
break from my blog to enjoy the rest of my summer before my son goes back to school and I start a new full time job. Next month I will also be busy getting ready for Swindon Open Studios which starts the first week in September. I will however, post some photos on my Facebook page of any upcoming events, etc.
Bye for now and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Work In Progress...

Hello,
I meant to post this yesturday as part of my-WIP(Work In Progress Wednesdays) series but ran out of time and didn't finish till 12 midnight-I started late in the evening. By then I was too tired to do anything. I started these a few weeks back and posted them here. I adhered the papers to stretched canvases and then began painting over them. I felt the colours needed to be brighter and cleaner. The current paintings look very different from the originals. I am still experimenting with colour and textures and plan to add some more elements like collage and drawings to the foreground. Still more to go, I hope to be finished soon so I can submit them to an upcoming exhibition this September.
I will let you know how it goes.

Queen's Park Family Fun Day Photos...

Hello,
It was a very busy weekend, with lots of outdoor activities happening in and around Swindon. Here are just a few of the photos I took yesterday at the Queen's Park Family Fun Day. The weather was a mixture of clouds during the earlier part of the day then glorious sunshine as the day progressed.
As you can tell, I am very happy my gazebo went up nicely-with some help from my trusty roadies-my husband Pete and friend Tim.
I'm all set up now, just waiting for everyone to arrive. As the day progressed, I had to take the display panel down-the wind started picking up and they began leaning forward and rattling too much. All well, that's the chance you take when you do outdoor fairs.
This is a close up of my table display.
Crowds began to arrive; some even took part in races-prizes were awarded.
We also had local food, drink, an ice cream truck(which my son loved), musicians and magicians entertaining us as well. And yes, even Elvis paid us a visit. Good times were had by all.
Bye for now.

July is Here and that Means Fairs, Pop-Up Shops and Markets

Hello,

I will be participating in various fairs and pop-up shops over the summer. This Sunday-13 July from 10-4pm, is Swindon's Queen's Park Family Fun Day. There will be lots for families to do-races, games, or just bring a picnic blanket and relax. There will be musical acts as well as magicians Razamatazz. Food and drinks will be sold and there will be various other stalls, I will have a stall selling painting, prints, drawings and cards. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, but I will bring a gazebo just in case. Wish me luck setting it up as I've never set it up outdoors (I did a trial run in our dinning room area, just to see how to put it together). So if you are in the area, stop by and say hello.
Stay tuned for other events.
Bye for now.

Happy July!

Hello,
Here are some abstract paintings I did the other day-they are inspired by the colours in a flyer my husband picked up at our local Marks and Spencer store. I didn't get a chance to photograph the actual pages(I wanted to get painting right away), so I'm just showing you the other side of the flyer. I need to go back to the store and pick up another one-so my husband can get started on his Summer Grilling!!! I don't know where I'm taking them exactly, but love the idea of playing with colour and paint!
Bye for now.
