Happy Easter

Hello,
Egg Series-Untitled 1-9; 2002. Coloured pencils on pastel paper.
I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter. We will be in Devon next week because of the Easter holiday; hopefully it will warmer and sunnier. We are all looking forward to it, especially our son. I'm not sure what he's more excited about- having access to indoor pool, a play area, his cousin coming along, that were staying at a caravan site or all of the above. I'm also hoping the change of scenery will inspire me; stay tuned.
Bye for now.

I'm working from home these days as its been bitterly cold out and my studio does not have central heating. I can't wait till spring arrives.

New Work...

Hello,
Here are some photos of new artwork I've been working on. I saw this really nice wrapping paper at one of our local shops and thought it would make a really interesting background for some new artwork.
I hope to include them in a solo show I'm having in May.
Bye for now.

Oops, I Messed Up!

Hello,
If you read my blog post yesterday you know I was telling you about various talks and workshops happening at Swindon Central Library in honour of International Women's Day. I thought they were happening today. But I was wrong, they took place yesterday. If you came to the library like me hoping to do art journalling, you were very disappointed. Sorry. The art exhibition, on the other hand, is definitely on and will be there till the 20th March.
On the bright side, I had a chance to have a coffee in their cafe and do a bit of reading. I picked up this book by Maya Angelou. I'm always fascinated with books which deal with family dynamics; especially mother/daughter ones. I look forward to reading it.
Bye for now.

International Women's Day-8th March 2013

Hello,
In honour of International Women's Day, Swindon is conducting special talks and workshops tomorrow as well as a group art exhibition at the Swindon Central Library which runs till the 20th March. You can find more information on it if you go to their website or the Swindon Open Studios website. I have two art quilts in the show. If you are in the area tomorrow, its worth a visit. I was there this afternoon taking photos of the work. Here they are:

I thought I would also share with you one of my favourite women artists-

Self-Portrait, 1938; oil on canvas
I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best.
I might blog about other female artists I admire during the month of March- stay tuned.
Bye for now.

Hello March and New Group Exhibition

Hello,
Thank goodness its March, I can't wait for Spring and warmer weather. We had some sun yesterday which was nice for a change, I went out with Jack and we had a nice walk. Hopefully we'll get more of these days; today seems to be shaping up nicely. I didn't have to wear my bulky winter coat to do the school run this morning.
I also wanted to mention that I have two paintings in a new exhibit which runs till the end of March. This is a group show highlighting various artists' works who are participating in this year's Swindon Open Studios. For more in formation go to http://swindonopenstudios.yolasite.com.
Here are some photos.
