New Work...

Hello,
This is a mixed media collage I did in my sketchbook today. I used an image transfer technique for the woman which I got from a fashion magazine. I like this technique because the image doesn't always transfer completely. So some areas might be incomplete and you don't always know what you will get n the end. I painted the background with watercolour paints and acrylic inks. I then used rubber stamps over the painted areas.
These are some other smaller pieces I did this week using permanent markers acrylic inks and stamps.
Bye for now.

Drawing on Paper 53

Hello,

Here are some drawings done on my Ipad using the Paper 53 app; my husband gave me a stylus for Christmas to use with it. I'm still getting used to it but its quite cool.
My son's also getting into it as well.

Bye for now.

First Snow Day in 2013!

Hello,
We had our first snow fall this year! It caused a lot of havoc yesterday in and around Swindon and other parts of England and Wales. They estimated we got around 4-6 inches of snow, not much but enough to close many schools, delay buses and trains. My son's school was one of the few schools  which were opened in the morning. To my son's horror- he wanted a snow day. But because it snowed throughout the morning, the head teacher thought it would be best to close at midday. It continued to snow all day and most of the night. I took some photos of our winter wonderland.
This was my son when I turned up at his school with his sled. Was he happy or what?
Below are photos of our local park.
 My son pulling his sled.
He and a school friend are pulled along by his friend's dad. He had a blast.
Outside my studio at the back of our house.
Jack our dog, enjoying himself in our back garden.
He's had enough-so he's coming inside.

They say we will get more snow over the next couple of days. We just have to wait and see.
Bye for now.

Sixteen Collages for 16 January 2013

Hello,
I just realised I'm still writing 2012 in my sketchbook. Note to self-change those dates
So, we are half way through January so far, how has it been so far? I just got back to doing some art a couple of days ago. I had been very busy at home looking after my son and husband- my husband had knee surgery right before Christmas so was pretty immobile afterwards. Which meant doing all the cooking, cleaning and little time for art. Now that he is walking around in crutches and isn't in so much pain and can do more things for himself, I can be a bit more creative. I sat with my sketchbook and just cut up loads of magazine images and just went collage crazy. Here they are:
I used an app called TurboCollage to make a large collage of all of them.

Here they are individually.
Bye for now.

Welcome 2013!

Hello,
Happy New Year to you all! I hope 2013 brings us lots of peace, love, joy and happiness. It was only last year at this same time when I started this blog. A decision which I am glad to have made. I have enjoyed posting about my work and also sharing a bit about my creative process. I hope to have inspired you as I have been inspired by many other great artists whom I have met through this world wide web. I will continue doing so throughout the coming months and hopefully you will visit me to see what I am up to. Thanks for all you nice moments and support, I appreciate it.
Today, I hung the artwork for my solo exhibition at the Windows Gallery in Swindon. I could not have done it without the help of fellow artist and friend Tim Carroll. Thanks again Tim! Here are some photos I took of the exhibit.
